April is Child Abuse Prevention Month Your High School Student Council will host the following activities to support this fight and raise awareness about child abuse.C.A.P. Day - 50 cents to wear a cap to class for Child Abuse Prevention, April 9th Message Hearts will be sold April 1st through April 30th for 25 cent each--Help build our rainbow to support The Sabine County Rainbow Room. The Rainbow Room is a non-profit organization that provides items free of charge to children who are removed from their home for physical, sexual or mental abuse. Stuco BanquetStudent Council and National Honor Society Banquet will be Friday, May 15th at 7:00 pm; after the banquet there will be a lock-in with the theme "Pushing the Edge...2010." The lock-in will be from 10:00 pm - 7:30 am. The banquet will be in the cafeteria and the lock-in will be in the old gym. Blood DrivesThe Blood Center of East Texas awarded the “Path to Success" award to Studco for hosting four blood drives. Please remember each donation saves three lives. We will host our final drive of the year May 13th. Brookeland High School Student Council was elected as the District 17 2009-2010 Parliamentarian school. Spring convention was held on February 26th @ the Beaumont Civic Center. Brookeland sent 10 students as representatives to attend. Our STUCO Leadership Class filed to run for office and prepared a skit based on our Energy and Environment platform developed this year. Brookeland Leadership students conducted a Breakout session, featuring a PowerPoint presentation, based on the Energy and Environment projects used throughout the year. Several students attended other breakout sessions including Pride and Patriotism, Summer Leadership, Teacher Appreciation, Teens in the Driver Seat and Drug, Alcohol, Health and Safety (DASH) presentations. Brookeland High School Student Council was named a TASC Outstanding Student Council for 2008-2009.Student projects throughout the school year were evaluated and Brookeland High School Student Council met all the required criteria. They will be recognized this year at the TASC State Convention held in Arlington, March 28-31, 2009. Brookeland High School Student Council members attended the Texas Association of Student Council’s state convention. Four students attended this year’s TASC state convention held in Arlington, Texas on March 28th. These students traveled with other District 17 representatives on Charter Buses to participate in all state activities. These activities included breakout sessions, guest speakers, attending a Dallas Stars Hockey Game, visiting The World Aquarium in Dallas, conference activities and the grand finale concluding at Six Flags over Texas.
