The staff of Brookeland ISD believes that ALL students can learn. We believe that our school’s purpose is to educate all students to high levels of academic performance while fostering positive growth in social/emotional behaviors and attitudes. We accept the responsibility to teach all students in a challenging, meaningful way that allows each child to become a literate, contributing adult.
Brookeland ISD is a center for sound learning, academic discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom through advanced course offerings, high academic standards and aggressive, innovative instruction. The students of Brookeland ISD will excel and compete academically with any student in the country. |

| 1876: Louisa Hamilton donated three acres of land to be used for worship, schools and a cemetery. The first school was a one room log building which also served as the church.
| | | 1880: Our enrollment increases as a result of the influx of sawmills to Brookeland’s vast virgin forest. This required the addition of another room to the original structure.
| | | 1900: The two room school was over crowded and a two story building was built across the road to replace it. Grades K-11 was taught in this school. (Until 1940, all that was required for a diploma was completion of grade 11) 1913: A tornado damaged the school. |  | 1914: A fire destroyed the school The three area schools were consolidated into the Brookeland, Browndell and Remlig Independent County Line School. The new school, called Central High School, was located two miles south of Brookeland and taught grades 5 through 11. The Jasper and Sabine County line ran through the main hall. This was the first consolidated school in the State of Texas. |  |  | 1925: The timber industry began to decline and a fire destroyed the Kirby Lumber Mill at Browndel. Local population declined, and enrollment in Central High School dropped dramatically. | 1936: The school was moved to Brookeland. The WPS helped build the present day Brookeland High School. New buildings have been constructed or purchased over the years, bringing about a modern and well equipped Elementary, Junior High and High School campus |
