Hello!  My name is Kindle Parrish and I will be your child’s Homeroom teacher this year! This means that your child will report to my classroom at the beginning of every day after they eat breakfast. One of the items we use daily is a notebook(3 ring binder). This will be sent home everyday. It will contain any notes that are sent home, a calendar and a menu. Inside the student planner, on the current date you will find information concerning your child’s conduct. Please initial that every day. To promote a learning environment, every student must obey our class rules and school policies. We have a color chart system: GREEN: Terrific! Yellow: Warning! Orange: Call Parents!  Red: Discipline!(Write-up/sent to Principal/call home). The student will be responsible in the morning for getting out and packing up his/her “Buddy Folder” and placing backpack in their assigned cubby. Then each student will fill up their water bottle, and place them in the crate. I will send the water bottle home on Friday. Please wash, and dry it and send it back on Monday. I will remind students to do these things many times until they become habits.

My conference time is 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. If you need to talk to me, please call or write me a note so that I will be prepared to sit down and discuss any matter that pertains to your child. Our K-1st team will hold conferences on Tuesday and Thursdays at this time. Please read the Student Handbook carefully; it contains important information about school issues and student expectations.

I teach all Science/Social Studies classes for Kindergarten and First Grade. Your child will change classes every class period.  Grade 1A students will be considered my room, #204 as their homeroom. Grade 1B and Kindergarten classes KA & KB  will rotate through three other teachers.  Mrs. Bennett and her aide Lenora Isom will teach Math, and Ms. Moon will be doing RTI. RTI is a built in Tutorial/Enrichment class. Mrs. Finncannon will be teaching Reading ELA.

Students will go one day a week to Mrs. Morgan for Fine Arts. The other four days students will go to P.E.

Brookeland Elementary’s daytime schedule is from 7:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. If you need to pick your child up early, please sign him or her out in the office. If your child is to ride a different bus, be picked up by someone other than the usually designated person, please call the office before 2 p.m. This keeps the school informed and ensures your child safety. Number grades will be given and recorded in the Grade Book for assignments. Progress reports will be sent home after three week intervals, and report cards will be sent after each Six Weeks Grading Period. Tests will count sixty percent of the total grade, while daily work will be weighed forty percent. Completed work will be sent home in the buddy; please view your child’s work and grades, and return the folder to school.

If you send money with your child to school, send a note telling me exactly what the money is to be used for. I will do my best to keep you informed of all activities/projects that involve your child. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to having a wonderful year!
