NOTE TO PARENTS & STUDENTS
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Greetings as we begin our new school year. I hope to make it a fun year and a real learning experience for each student.
There are a few things that I need your help and support with. As you know shop work can be hot and dirty. Work clothes and shoes are required and must be provided by the student. There are lockers for storing them and the students will be responsible for washing and returning their clothes. Also, we will be using many different chemicals in our shop and sometimes these may cause allergic reactions. If there is a problem please let me know as soon as possible. We have gloves, aprons, safety glasses and respirators but at times, for some students, there is still a problem. Safety glasses are required to be worn by all students in the shop area.
I hope to improve the quality of future automotive technicians, inspire some to enter the automotive field and help give all my students a valuable work ethic. I look forward to teaching your child and wish for your support.
Make-Up and Retake Policies According to District Handbook Policy
Make-Up Work Procedures:
If you are absent it is your responsibility to check Google Classroom’s Agenda and calendar. Students will not be reminded or prompted to obtain their work and it is the student’s responsibility. According to district policy students have 3 days to turn in make-up work from the last date of absence.
Retake Policy
If a student receives a failing grade on a daily assignment or test, they will be given 3 days to retake or correct from the date of return according to handbook guidelines. Furthermore, that assignment cannot exceed a maximum grade of a 70 according to the handbook. I will prompt students once. It is also at the discretion of the teacher to assign detention to get the work done, even if the grade cannot receive a higher grade than a 0. Despite receiving a 0 the student is still responsible for gaining the knowledge required.
