What is the Star Lab

The STAR Lab is a specialized reading program that is statistically proven to improve reading skills. Reading is taught utilizing a systematic phonics based instructional program. It is an awesome program that helps a student to become a fluent reader. Being a fluent reader is vitally important for increasing higher-level comprehension.

Student Expectation

The student is expected to sign-in and complete the Star assignment each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday according to the school calendar unless other instructions are given. Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the assignment must be completed by 11:59 p.m. If the assignment is not completed, the student will not receive credit for the assignment.

Parent Expectation

The parent must pick up student packets from Tammy Gilbert. The student will also need school supplies to complete some of the activities. The parent must return the activities to Tammy Gilbert in person or mail to Brookeland ISD.

If the parent has any questions or concerns, please contact Tammy Gilbert at tgilbert@brookelandisd.net.

All emails will be returned as quickly as possible. All questions and concerns are very important, but due to time restraints of teaching, screening, other responsibilities and parent conferences, an email response may not be possible the same day.
